Axa launches forest fire prevention service in France based on satellite imagery

Current

Axa has announced the launch in France of a new forest fire risk prevention service based on a model developed in partnership with Kayrros, a global environmental intelligence company.

The service leverages satellite imagery and combines more than 20 risk factors to provide sophisticated risk maps and regularly updated analysis.

The platform is designed to determine the exposure and risk profile of a site – or sites – in France, and to implement appropriate risk management and risk transfer measures. It is available through Axa’s Digital Trading Platform.

The service has been developed for Axa France and Axa XL business customers. The insurer’s customers in this country will benefit from the service through its General Agents.

“Last year, forest fires in France burned six times more hectares than the average of the previous 15 years, according to the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS). Acting effectively and making sound risk management decisions in this context depends on having accurate, verifiable and independent information, and that is what we strive to bring to our clients through this partnership,” says Maxime Ambourg, Head of Axa XL Risk Consulting – APAC and Europe.
